Avatar the last Airbender episode 2 ‘the avater returns’
After hundred years Katara and her brother Sokka frees the Avatar who was stuck in a huge ice sphere. The kid named Aang didn’t told them right away he’s the Avatar. Instead he acted as a normal kid who wish the play forever. But when he finds an fire nation warship his curiosity takes over and he takes a look inside. There he triggers a booby trap which signals the fire nation. A fire nation ship in the neighborhood spots the signal and sees the last airbender, the avatar, next to the ship. He follows the Avatar accompanied by Katara all along their village. This is how episode 1 ends.
As Aang and Katara returns they find the whole village awaiting their arrival. They’re eyes tells them they aren’t very pleased. Though they knew, the inevitable words still struck their hearts. Aang is banished. The village can’t bear forming a target to the fire nation. Katara is furious, wildly she takes sides with Aang, but he refuses. It’s not the way to separate a family like that, so Aang tells her to be with her family. The kids starts to cry as he turns his back to them and starts walking away.
Soon as he’s gone Sokka prepares the male children to combat. All male adults are send out to war, fighting the fire nation a few years ago without Sokka who was too small. Now he needs to protect his tribe on it’s own. No telling you he has no chance when the fire nation arrives. Zuko, simple masters him in any attempt he make. Though Zuko is attacked by Sokka he’s not spending his time to it. In fact he throws Sokka back each time he tries and further ignores his presence. A master’s proud, Sokka is not worthy to keep an eye on… He, announces the tribe, that he’s looking for the Avatar. He grabs an old woman, Katara’s grand mother. ‘This age’, he claims, ‘the avatar is one-hundred years old’.
Suddenly a penguin slider Aang races into the village, stretching his staff from hand to hand swiping out the commander Zuko. Aang have watched their invasion and couldn’t leave the tribe doomed. He glides towards his friends and says hello to Katara and Sokka. Sokka thanks him for his support and Zuko finally lending his ear for a fight commands his soldiers. Aang stands up and covers all the fire benders with a pact of snow by bending some air beneath it. Zuko spreads his eye, “you the Avatar?” he unbelievably asks. “Yes”, Aang answers “you were looking for me?” and they start to fight.
Though Aang parry Zuko’s fire attacks well, the tribe is not. If Aang continues to fight the tribe will definitely suffer. Looking down to the frightened tribe and the kids around Aang halts his movement and trades his capturing in return for the well being of the tribe. Zuko nods, he’s only interested in the Avatar so its a fair trade. He sets sail to home, the fire nation, they will welcome him as an hero now he captured the Avatar. While they sail away Katara and Sokka prepares to free Aang. Meanwhile Aang is already started to plan out an escape.
He fools the guards and finds his staff in the commanders room. Next the door he grabs the staff, but then the door smashes down and he finds himself locked up in the room. Zuko grins, the bait worked perfectly. They both sidesteps and the fireballs are throwed. Aang efficiently ducks, jumps and side-passes to evade every single blow of Zuko who is really losing his patience. A moment of disconcentration happens and Aang wraps Zuko up using a painting decor in the room and escapes. Outside he takes his flyer but just in mid-air Zuko grabs his ankles and pulls him to the ground.
Appa flies towards them carrying Katara and Sokka with him. Zuko as surprised as Sokka loses his focus for a second. A flying bison, he can’t believe his eyes. Katara smiles to Sokka who didn’t believe Appa could fly. Now his jaws are spread open, excited he calls, he flies he flies, but quickly restores his manly image. He’s the first of the two finding Aang in a bending battle facing the commander Zuko on his own. It’s not going all to well and they just see how Zuko takes Aang out and throws him overboard into the deadly icy waters. Both shocked Katara screams out Aang’s name. This can’t be happening…
In full surprise of both teams a giant swirl of water bends out from the water, carrying forth the Avatar on the top as a master of water. His arrow on his forehead, his eyes and mouth emits white light and the giant swirled beam hovers over the ship. It takes the Avatar to the deck. In his furious state he waves his hands and the giant beam splashes out towards all directions off the Avatar, wiping out all foes in range.
Stunned Katara and Sokka beholds the events safely afar from air. Have you ever saw that, he asks his sister. Katara shocked and can’t believe what she sees. Because she is witness of the true and full power of the almighty and the balance keeper of all elements, the Avatar. Aang is a truly a great bender and he’s certainly the Avatar. Quickly Sokka and Katara recovers themselves and lowers Appa to deck to pull up Aang. They jumps off and grabs Aang’s body up from the floor. The total exhausted Aang fainted a moment ago after releasing his full powers for at least the first time in hundred years.
Some of the soldiers recovers and Katara manage it to slightly reproduce Aang’s attack and freezes the soldiers, together with Sokka’s feet. Chopping the ice to get free, Katara drives Sokka crazy to hurry up. Grumbling while chopping the ice he says to her that he’s just a guy with a boomerang who didn’t ask for all those actions and bending powers.
Lucky he frees himself on time and they manage to get away. Aang snaps out find a fireball in approaching them. He takes a deep breath and re-directs the blast to the to the icy mountains aside. The fireball crashes into the snowy rock which crumbles down onto the sip. Stuck Zuko vows he never underestimate the boy again, it’s not just a boy, it’s the Avatar.
Safely in the sky Katara and Sokka awaits Aang explanation. Aang never told them he was the Avatar, they had to found out themselves. They heard Zuko was looking for the Avatar and suddenly Aang came and said he was the Zuko was looking for. With a sad face Aang looks away and informs, ‘he never wanted to be, the Avatar…’
