Bittorrent, the Internet Provider’s worse nightmare, it demands tons of bandwidth uploading and downloading. Some providers blocks Bittorrent others like the internet provider Comcast is corrupting the protocol. It might be a good reason, a nightmare, but that’s not! Internet providers should, ofcourse, keep their hands of your internet you paided!
So, what’s Comcast. Comcast is an internet provider, active in America for 20% of their internet users. Recently some customers question a research to independed company’s why their bittorrent files breaks up or even never starts. The research experienced a lot of problems sending files with bittorrent. Wit a bit tweaking their conclusion was Comcast internet provider sabotages bittorrent traffic.
How? Simple, whenever a bittorrent client doesn’t want packages (likely he’s stops his down- or upload) a reset package is send. A reset bittorrent package means, I stop, don’t send me anything anymore, please remove me from your peerlist. Comcast thought he was clever and ended up sending those reset packages theirselves when bittorrent traffic is detected. Research found out when they checked their sended packets. Somehow they find reset packets on the other side they never send.
If you are an user of the Comcast internet provider, you probarly think f*ck you. I f*cking paid for the internet and it’s censured without telling me. Especially the last part is worse, I think. Comcast though is NOT the only internet provider and the technique isn’t quiet new. Similar sabotages were made in the past by other internet providers. Lucky there are people we detect and brings it to the press. Otherwise you end up paying an half internet.
