We expect a 2 to 3 hours downtime of the anime district files tonight (~20:00 GMT + 2 (which is 11 am in PDT)). Perhaps even longer. If we are finished I’ll update this post. A giant CMS update will take place with a lot of new secuirity fixes. During this time we will NOT close the the downloads probarly. You might, or might not able to download files. They probarly end up corrupted. Though I will try to just give a 404 NOT FOUND page. So, it’s there after the update, don’t worry.

The massive CMS update and thus the downtime is kindly sponsered by several bandwidth stealers. Though we really written all over the place, not to steal our files, people just ignore. You CAN NOT copy the download url, we are NOT a file service! We still find people copying the urls to their homepage and rolling down THEIR newspage they have new downloads. That’s no fun. If you really are in need for file service, try and look for them. DO NOT link to other sites (wihout permission that is). New features for regular visitors
It’s a tiny update for regular visitors. It’s at most a CMS update, but there are minor changes.
Mind this is for the update, so if the status is ‘done succesfully’.
- Permalink #2 works in the Anime District. Instead using an ?aid=3 in permalink #1, you can just write ?W.I.T.C.H. . We hope, with the introduction of these two permalinks, less people stealing bandwidth.
- Fansubs, you won’t see much in the earlier days, but once I add and edit some fansub with relations you will see the fansubbers of the file in the filelist. A lot of people likes to know which fansub they are downloading of, so here it goes.
- A chaching system for the Anime District, including the Fansub pages is introduced. It will allow you for more speed. In addition, the Anime District info page is fully rewritten. It’s faster and above all improved.
- Anime District Gallery is now optimized for 1024Xxxx resolution instead of 800Xxxx.
Bug Fixes - Download files are fixed, they should be faster.
Update; 9:36 PDT. I just dropped my full local (by heavens) database, accidentally ofcourse. The lame me saw, a pop-up and clicked ‘ok’. Just as I released my fingers, “Oh no, stop wait, please don’t”, but commands doesn’t know mercy and my whole database was deleted. Great! Now I can start from scratch or … So I took the liberty to use the web database backup and with a bit of tweaking it worked out.
It still costed a lot of concentration and above all time. However, the trial update went successful! I used the recent database and the files at the server. If I won’t forget anything, the update will just work out in the stated 2-3 hours. First, I take a break and a diner.
Update; 10:57 PDT. Start moving files
Update; 11:03 PDT. Linux and my host is terrible fast, without much problems the files races to other directories. However the update failed! There is no recovery, so I’m going to update the next parts myself… Wish me luck
